It's not often that a person or company can be rocked by scandal and come back stronger than ever, but this is exactly what has happened with entrepreneur Martha Stewart. While her five months in jail could have been a setback, Martha Stewart's net worth rose, allowing for her first appearance on Forbes' billionaire list about two weeks after getting out.

What is Martha Stewart famous for?

Martha Stewart is a self-made entrepreneur, famous mostly for her videos, TV shows, books, and seminars that address home skills such as gardening, cooking, decorating, and entertaining. In business, Stewart has used intelligent administration and entrepreneurship skills to succeed at nearly every thing she's tried.

How did Martha Stewart get started in her business career?

In 1976, Stewart started a catering company with a friend. Stewart showed her business administration skills early in this career, and only ten years after it was founded, the company had turned into a $1 million dollar enterprise. In the meantime, Stewart had become a contributing writer to the New York Times and the magazine House Beautiful.

What was the turning point in Martha Stewart's business career?

In 1982, Martha Stewart published her first book, called Entertaining. It was after this that her media presence became extremely prominent. She published many books and video tapes, appeared regularly on The Today Show, and started her own magazine, Martha Stewart Living. She signed a contract with Kmart and became one of their most prominent advertisers. In 1993, she started appearing on her own syndicated TV show, also called Martha Stewart Living.

What is Martha Stewart doing now in her business career?

In 1997, all of Stewart's various ventures were combined into one company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. This company is doing better than ever, and Stewart's business career doesn't seem to have suffered from her time spent in jail. Her business administration skills continue to bring her great success.
