There's no doubt about it; getting an MBA degree can provide a positive boost to your career. It can help you attain higher levels in your current industry, or allow you to jump-start a profession in a completely new industry
MBA programs come in many shapes and sizes, though, so before you start filling out applications, make sure you're familiar with all the options.
Get the skills you need with University of Phoenix - the number one choice for working professionals.
Weighing Your MBA Options:
- What's Your Focus? Most MBA programs require you to have a specific focus of study, so it's a good idea to do some research, request plenty of school brochures, and see what's out there.
There are MBAs offered in entrepreneurship, marketing, health care, international business, finance, general MBA, and more – it's just a matter of deciding where your interests lie, what you want to do, and how you plan to end up doing it.
- Part-time Program. A part-time program is a great option for candidates who plan to work (and still earn an income!) while getting their degree. Many schools offer flexible schedules, like night and weekend classes, which enable you to work and study. Part-time programs usually take longer than full time degrees, and can last anywhere from two to four years.
- Full-Time Degree. A full-time MBA offers a wonderful, comprehensive academic experience for students, and generally lasts about two years. Although it's usually not possible for students to work full time while they earn this type of MBA, many programs provide on-campus recruiting opportunities for summer jobs, which can lead to full-time placement after the candidate has graduated.
- Online MBA. An online MBA is a good alternative if your schedule or location prevents you from making frequent trips to a campus location. The program is flexible, and is tailored to your time constraints, while still providing you with a solid, business-focused education.
Earn your degree 100% online. DeVry University provides the flexibility you need to complete your degree whenever and wherever it's convenient for you.
