When you're trying to decide what your next move is after graduation, don't just look at the obvious companies and places -- think outside the country, too! A career in international business can be a rewarding and lucrative one for many people.

Get the skills you need with University of Phoenix - the number one choice for working professionals.

When you're in school and taking classes, it's natural to overlook some of your post-graduation options -- or to not spend very much time considering them at all. But don't let yourself get caught three months before graduation with no idea what to do; sit down and think about it now, before you get caught up in the flurry of resume-sending! An overseas job, or an international business MBA might not occur to many people, but it's something that can give your career a huge jump start. If you think you might want to work in another country, here's what you might want to consider.
  1. Coursework. If it's early on in your studies and international business seems like an interesting field to you, your life will be much easier if you take some international business strategy courses, or anything else that indicates your commitment to this line of work. If you have a transcript filled with international business strategy classes, you'll be an easy 'sell' to any interviewer come graduation time. You should also consider becoming proficient in a foreign language, another aspect which would make you very attractive to an international business.
  2. An International Business MBA. If you think that you'd like to establish a long term career in international business, then you should definitely consider pursuing an MBA in international business. There are American schools that offer this program, in addition to overseas universities that specialize in the discipline. Many might find that an international business MBA is best pursued in the country where you plan to work after graduation, but it's an individual choice. Whatever you decide, make sure you're well informed.
